Congregations
Derby Urban Church is a multi-congregational church – which sounds complicated, but basically means that we are here to support and encourage congregations – and lots of them! This includes enabling existing congregations to grow and flourish, helping new congregations to start from scratch (perhaps out of existing ministries) and being open to new churches joining. The idea is that all the congregations are supported by the DUC trellis, freeing up congregations to focus on worship, mission and supporting people. Have a look at our Vision and Values for more details.
As we’re brand new – all of us are on different stages of a journey with DUC as we work this out together. Ozzy Road and Friends United in Jesus were congregations from the very start. City Youth Church joined soon after we started. We are already in a Joint Pastorate with our good friends at Boulton Lane Baptist Church– Graham is their part time minister as well as leading DUC, so although they are not part of DUC, we are closely linked and working together.
The amazing Derby Asian Fellowship, Global Light Apostolic Ministry and Zoe Khangery Churches all meet at Ozzy Road’s building and we are all part of God’s multilingual and multicultural family who call Ozzy Road their home. We all get together for packed joint services at Pentecost – it’s quite something! We’ve have worked together on shared mission projects too.
We are also actively exploring setting up new congregation in Stockbrook, growing out of our support to a local school, through assemblies, craft club and craft parties.
If you are looking for a congregation to come along to, there are details on the website where we hope you’ll get the flavour of what each one is like. Please contact us. We’d love to welcome you.
